modern art tags is a project that aims to erase the line between art galleries and the real world. By creating “tags” or placards to be placed on common objects in our daily lives, I hope to encourage people to re-examine their interactions with these objects. Do the objects become art simply because they have a placard affixed to them?

There is also an element of public-space reclamation to the project, as I have affixed tags to commercial objects such as ATMs. It is interesting to note that the tags, while somewhat mutilated, remained affixed for over six months.

Further refinements to the project will involve expanded placement of tags and public downloads of generic tags for people to place themselves.
